Chopped Strand Matt (CSM)

Chopped Strand Matting is the most popular form of reinforcement used with Polyester Roofing Resins when laying up. The matting is made up of lots of strands of glass fibre all held together by an emulsion binder.

300gsm (grams per square metre)

Predominantly used in Overlay Fibreglass roofing installation and for repairs

450gsm

Preferred in Fibreglass roofing installation where only light or maintenance foot traffic will be regularly evident. The 450g matting can also be used in a double layer system for when heavy foot traffic is evident

600gsm

Fibreglass roofing installation where regular foot traffic will be evident.

Surface Tissue

A thin glass fibre mat 1m wide in a form similar to tissue paper. Supplied on a roll 1m wide and only 25-30g per m².

It can be applied onto the CSM while the resin is still wet, again to cover the glass pattern and form a smooth surface for the topcoat to be applied.

Fibreglass Bandage

65m Length x 75mm width – Bandage Taping Matt is used for reinforcing the roof in the following scenarios:

Reinforcing OSB3 Square Edge Deck boards, any local reinforcement on the roof or trim joints , the joints between edge trims and the substrate.

Fibreglass Roofing Resin

Roofing Resin including consolidated Chopped Strand Matting forms the base layer of a fibreglass flat roof installation. This is the main waterproofing element. This is cold applied and utilises a catalyst (Hardener) to promote curing.

Fibreglass Roofing Topcoat

Roofing topcoat forms the finishing layer of your fibreglass roof. Bonding to the base layer this provides weather and UV resistance, helps resist thermal expansion and gives a tough, visually aesthetic, durable finish. Strengthening the viability of the roof and its waterproofing.

Fire retardancy of a fibreglass roof lies in the topcoat and is often requested by building inspectors in new build projects.
