Rubber Roofing Supplies
To complement and support our 3 Inch EPDM Seam Tape – RKD provides a range of EPDM – Rubber Roofing Supplies and Materials. These are of quality to enable ease of installation.
As with all flat roofing systems our customers often install on a regular basis. As such they may only require certain individual components to update their stock or complete a repair.
EPDM Membrane
Rubber Roof membranes come from the manufacturer in large rolls. These come in widths from 0.53m to 9.15m – Our membranes are ClassicBond – the original EPDM roofing system.
Membranes come in 1.2mm and 1.5mm gauge options.
Wherever possible RKD advocates 1 piece membranes for each roof but for roofing projects which are multi directional membranes can be joined together using seam tape. It is noted that rather than weakening the roof integrity a join properly made is just as strong and waterproof as any membrane.
Adhesives
ClassicBond manufactured these consist of –
Water Based Adhesive – This high strength low odour water based acrylic adhesive is specifically designed for use with our ClassicBond EPDM roofing membrane to a range of deck surfaces. This product is designed to be applied with a medium roller direct to the timber flat roof surface and is utilised for the main section of the roof.
Coverage Guide

- 15 Litres (Coverage 50 to 60 sqm)
Contact (bonding) adhesive – This is a high strength, solvent based bonding adhesive specifically designed and manufactured to withstand the temperature extremes of flat roofing installations.Used to secure membranes around edges and upstands.
Also used as the main adhesive on large roofs and where green roofing is evident.
Coverage Guide
- 2.5 Litres (Coverage 4 to 5 sqm)
- 5.0 Litres (Coverage 7 to 10 sqm)
- 10 Litres (Coverage 15 to 20 sqm)
Primer
Our EPDM Rubber primer can be used to bond different accessories to your Rubber membrane, for example tapes, drains and pipe boots.
It is also used when constructing internal and external upstand corner patches.
Tapes and Patches
All tapes and patches and drain flanges are joined to the membrane using primer.
Tapes
3” Seam tape, 6” Cover Tape, and 9” Elastform Uncured Tape – are available in metre length options and full rolls
Russ Tape
In common with most single ply material, EPDM will overtime try to shrink. The base tie in Russ Tape mechanically fixes the membrane to the roof deck where the membrane turns UP through an angle change. e.g. Wall upstand. Any further movement is accommodated by the EPDM’s ability to elongate by over 300%
Patches
External and internal for use in strengthening corners and for repair – nominally 225mm x 300mm
Drains/ pipes/ Vents
Drains and pipes enable the installer to ensure that water egress from the roof is professionally effected. These have epdm flanges which enable the user to secure to the main membrane with primer creating 100% water tightness at what could possibly be weak point areas.
A means of ventilating insulated cold deck roof designs.
Suitable for use with almost all single ply and multi layer flat roof systems
They provide essential airflow to reduce the build up of condensation in unventilated flat roofs.
You will also need 9 inch uncured elastoform tape with EPDM primer to form a water tight seal.
EPDM pipe boots are used to create a waterproof seal between the roof deck and protruding pipework.
Installation Notes:
- After installing the roofing membrane place the pipe boot in position by sliding it over the drain or pipe.
- You may need to cut to required diameter
- Mark the roofing membrane to show where rubber primer is to be applied
- Remove boot and apply rubber primer
- Wait until primer is touch dry and then re-install the pipe boot positioning over the pipe and onto the roof membrane.
- Smooth down the join with a seam roller
- Roll back the top of the boot and apply water cut off mastic around the pipe.
- Roll back top of boot over mastic and install and tighten hose clip using screw driver.
(68mm 100mm 110mm) Used For: EPDM drain outlets are used to join a rainwater down pipe to the EPDM membrane where the drain runs through the roof deck.
Size: Fits Standard Domestic Downpipe, 100mm Downpipe and 110 Downpipe.
Installation Notes:
- Cut the drain flange down to leave a 25-35mm flange.
- Cut the appropriate sized hole in the roof membrane. (68mm 100mm 110mm).
- Insert the drain ensuring a positive fit inside the down pipe.
- Fix to decking by screwing through the flange into the roof deck using 3 wood screws.
- Prime the Internal Drain and surrounding roof membrane with rubber primer.
- Cut a piece of 9″ Uncured Flashing to place over the internal drain ensuring at least 60mm extra on all sides is bonded to roof membrane
- Adhere flashing to drain and membrane using seam roller once the primer is touch dry.
- Cut a hole in the flashing making sure not to cut internal drain
- Insert leaf guard.
Used where roof drainage goes through a parapet wall or similar
